ESE COURSE IN 20 DEC 2011

Today is our last workshop for ESE in this semester and we has lectured by Dr. Kamal. Dr. Kamal show us a slide show about our next semester's one subject which is Analog and Diginal Signal. Digital Signal is contributed by binary number. It can store the information of analog signal into binary number then make the analog signal can be transfered far away. Then some electronic device convert the binary number information of the digital signal into analog signal again make other people can get the information wherever the person is.

Go back to the slide showed by Dr.Kamal, the slide has a video i think is get from YouTude make us more easily to understand. The video had said that the digital signal is based on logic level. It is represented by the voltage ranges representib '0' and '1'. 1 is represent the circuit is close and 0 is represent the circuit is open. 1 and 0 can represent all the information since binary number can be any length. More information will need more longer binary number to store it.

Then, Dr.Kamal assign 2 paper to each of us. The first paper is binary number exercise. For this exercise, I can do the addition and subtraction of binary number by just add and minus the 2 binary numbers to a binary number without define the upper and below binary number into decimal number first to find the answer in decimal number. I found the method to do in this binary numbers exercise.

The second paper is communication code worksheet. Finally, we can solve the problem by leading og Dr. Kamal. Then, we are finished our first semester ESE subject. I write the self evaluation form in high mark because I feel that I have learned so much of skills in this subhect. Thank you.^^

ESE COURSE IN 19 DEC 2011

Finish our mini project, we had a lecture about electric today. First, we devide to 2 person 1 group. Then we get from En. Redzuan the fluorescent light tube, wires, plug, and toolkit. We learn how to make a plug extension and how to install the fluorescent light.

Then, En. Redzuan show us the methods to do the above said. He explain all the method clearly and show us also some wrong method to aware us where is the student always will do wrongly, especially the positive and negative end and electric short checking. After he built the two things, he supply electric current to test the two things and surely has success.

Then we start to do with our partner in a time interval because it will be calculated as mark of this subject. I with my partner Jeffler divide the work to do it faster. We complete the extension first. Then we make the fluorescent light tube. After this when we try the light, it works. Then we try the extension, it cannot function. Finally found the mistake is the screw is not tight enough.

After that we appreciate to En. Redzuan because he is teach us a lot. And tomorrow is our last lecture for ESE.

ESE COURSE IN 13 DEC 2011

Today, we continue the mini project. We need to bring toolkit and soldering apparatus come to workshop lab. We start our lecture early at 8:30am because we want to finish our mini project today. When we arrive the workshop lab, we just continue our soldering without any lecture.
Some people already do the soldering in KSJ. I'm also, but still do not complete yet. I look the sample again to make sure my soldering is not wrong. The soldering need the experience to do it. Why I say like this? This is because I slowly know how to soldering well that may be because of I already got the experience yesterday and I have mentioned somewhere that I need to be careful.
Then, some people already finish their circuit but I still not complete. They go test their circuit by using power supply and some have success. But some of them are fail because their LED is not coruscate. After two hour I also complete my circuit. I go to test it and it is work. I feel so sastified after do this all.
Then, I write my name on the circuit board and pass up to En. Redzuan. We return back the toolkit and the soldering apparatus. We clean up the table. One of my friend still do not have finished his circuit board, so we wait for him. Meanwhile, we talk a lot of crabs. After he finished his circuit and pass up, we go to other lecture.^^

ESE COURSE IN 12 DEC 2011

Already long time we do not have ESE lecture. This is because the public holday and factory visiting last week. This make our ESE lecture is lacking of time to complete it. What I heard from my friends from session 2, they already complete their mini project. But, my class just want to begin our mini project today.

In the beginning of the lecture, En. Redzuan show us a slide show about how to prepare a board. Actually this slide show En. Redzuan already showed us before, so I tell my friends about this problem, but my friends say it is okay, do not need to tell. So, I just keep quite and see the slide show again. I was found that something small information I already forget. It is good for us review again the slide show.

After see the slide show, we go to take our toolkit and soldering apparatus. We also need to bring our components to do this mini project. En. Redzuan assigns the original board to us. We use tape to stick the transparent circuit draft on the board. We be careful to stick the plastic because it make the tracks of the circuit. After that, we exposed the board to UV light for 90 seconds. And then, we take out the board and clean it by using sodium solution and acid. This is the dangerous step because acis is corrosive. Then, I take the board to be cutted by using a cutter to make the board in a suitable size. Then, I drill the holes for through hole components.

Then, En. Redzuan show us how to solder components on the board. He also make some sample for us to follow the sample to do. I take out the components and look on the schematic paper to know where are the correct position of components. After I totally understand the position, I begin to solder. I am very carefully because I know a bit fault will make my circuit board mulfunction.

It take a long time for us to do the soldering. We spend a lot of time until we already exceed the ESE lecture time which should end on 5pm, but we do until 5:45pm. Then, En. Redzuan tell us to tidy up the table. We bring the components, toolkit and soldering apparatus back to KSJ. We will continue our mini project tomorrow morning.

VISIT TO CANON OPTO MALAYSIA IN 6 DEC 2011

Today my course SMJE go to visit Canon Opto Malaysia sdn bhd at Shah Alam. We have arrived Canon Opto Malaysia at 9:00 am. After that, we take a course’s photograph with Canon factory as background.
Then, we are invited to a room. We listen a talk about safety in workplace. The lecturer tell us about the safety method that practised in Canon company. The most important thing is the fire alarm and the route to escape from the factory when the workplace fire is occur.


After that, there is a lecture about the history of Canon. We look a slide show which contain a video that tell the information of Canon. I can know that Canon is begin from early of 20th century. This company is begin by a brothers who learned the optic precision science. I am also surprice that the photocopy is invented by Canon. I can see also the film technology is replaced by digital technology.
After that, we go to see the production process of the camera. First, we need to wear a shoe plastic to reduce the dust. This because a dust in a len can be a very large shadow on the screen to take picture. We also have go through a way that blow off the dust on our body. Then, we can the production process. There are many section to admnistrate the worker to produce camera. What I can see is a production need many robotic machine to make the production time faster and make more profit. The robotic machine is based our course electronic system to build it up and can do the process that human cannot do. For example, machine can solder the component that very very small and fast. Human is cannot do it accurately and fast.
The circuit of the camera is designed by Japanese engineering. The technology of Japanese is so high level and they do not share with Malaysia partner. The worker just follow the instruction and test the camera by machine. I can see a camera can be fast to built when I walking straight. The worker is already very expert to do the process because they are already trained. I think the communication between workers is essential to reduce the conflict. In a company, tolerance is very important to complete a work more efficient. Not just company, a country also very need tolerance.
I can see also there are a lot diagram to tell some information about safety way, introduction to the camera and some perfomance chart. Canon company encourage the worker to be do the work faster. When a worker is do fastest, the chart on the board will show his/her name to praise him/her. This can make the production more better in quality.
After that, we go to visit the lens production section. In this section, we can just see a few things only since we cannot go more far and deep to see the production. In this section, the technology is more based on machanic. However, there are still have many robotic machine to do the process. Then, we have a lunch at the cafeteria in Canon company.
Then, we have a Q&A section for give chance for us to more understanding the process to make camera. After that, we atart to go back to KSJ by bus.
I can a production of a camera need a lot of technology, especially electronic system. This is the most important part in a camera. Japanese engineer have this knowledge and make their technology and science is more higher level. I hope in one day, we Malaysian can also make a camera with out brand that can compete to foreign country.^_^

ESE COURSE IN 29 NOV 2011

We begin to start our project today. Before start the class, En. Redzuan want me and my friends Zhi Jie, Chin Yap go to MJIIT office. We need to bring various of equipments such as wires, light tube, and a box of components from MJIIT office.
When we bring to worshop lab, there are already have some equipments on every students' tables. We put down the things we carry. On out table have a tool kit, multimeter, and a bettery. Everything are new things. Now each student have their own multimeter, don't need to share the multimeter like before.
We set up the multimeter by put the bettery inside the multimeter. The toolkit inside has various of apparatus, such as screw driver.
Then, En. Redzuan show us how to begin the project. First we need to learn how to make a new board. There is a lot of steps to do to make a new board. En. Redzuan show us a slide show that teach us the steps. We have to prints a blue print of circuit schematic, then exposed to UV light, clean the unused chemical composition on the board's surface.
After that, En. Redzuan give us the components and want us to keep these all ourself. We return back the toolkit and multimeter to En. Redzuan.
I so excited to begin our proiect. I need to wait for a week to do the project in next week. There must a lot of skill can learned from this project.^^

ESE COURSE IN 22 NOV 2011

Today, we have a test for multiboard and ultiboard. Firstly, En. Redzuan give us a test paper. The test paper contain the schematic diagram of two circuit. En. Redzuan explain to us what the question ask about. Then, our test is started.
We open the multiboard to draw the two circuit diagram. When I do the test, I found there are something very hard to do. The most difficult thing is En. Redzuan want our traces must be 40 mil. This is very difficult, because before that we never try to change the size of traces. When I enlarge the traces, there will occur a lot of problem. The traces will overlap.
Even though I try to fixed the problem, I still cannot find the cause of the problem. The computer also is not very good and always be hang. En. Redzuan tell us to press the escape key. When the test is time is up, I still cannot overcome the problem, so I just pass up my saved file.
Actually, I already very lucky because some of my friends, their computer is suddenly shut down and they did not save their file. So, they cannot pass up their work.
What I feel  after test is my face very ‘warm’ that may be because of I very focus on the test and the test is very hard.

ESE COURSE IN 21 NOV 2011

Today, En. Redzuan continue to teach us about Ultiboard. En.Redzuan teach how to change the size of the traces and pad. We also learn how to change the position of the components and the traces.
The Ultiboard got a switch that can let the computer to find the best way to route the traces which is called autoroute. This will make us more easy to the work even though I just simply place the component on the board, but the computer still can find the route.
What I about tha Ultiboard is this is a software that make the work more easy to complete. Now, I already know actually what we can learn from the engineering course of university, the most important is software using skill.
For example, when we learn about mathematic, we can use scientific calculator. When we want to design a circuit, we can use Pspice of Multisim. When we want to design a shape, we can use Autocad. So, in university we are exposed to these all thing. What the thing that common people cannot become engineering, just because they do not know these all software.
For me, before I learn multisim, I cannot imagine how to build up a television or just simple electronic device. Now, with these all software, I feel that is no more so terrible difficult to design a circuit. I love my course very much.
